Apparently; this disease is very difficult to diagnose! And I know of alot of people who have been to the doctor (including myself) with what is thought to be sinus infections. I spent alot of time outdoors working; camping and fishing. And alot of my friends have the same symptoms that I had before they put me on an antibiotic. I seem to be gradually doing better. The symtoms I hear alot of them complain about is mainly a stiff neck, swollen glands in the neck, a slight rash, and confusion. And can having lime disease have an impact on your mental health? I mean since it seems to affect the nervous system you would think that it could. Its been 2 years since I took the antibiotic. But they say that Lyme disease is a very stubborn illness and can last for years. Is this true? I also had a reaction to the antibiotic. I’m allergic to Penicillin so; they gave me the Z – Pack. I am not allegic to this antibiotic. http://www.canlyme.com/smurraystory.html The link above is an example.

Lyme Disease is definitively diagnosed using an antibody test, confirmed by a test called a Western Blot, though the characteristic rash is sometimes enough for a doctor to make a diagnosis.Treatment with antibiotics kills all of the bacteria that cause Lyme Disease, but arthritis symptoms may continue because of the damage they do. In response to your mental health question, Lyme Disease is known to sometimes cause dementia and fatigue.I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better and I hope your health continues to improve.

Apr. 22, 2013 — When a person contracts Lyme disease, quick diagnosis and treatment are essential to avoiding long term complications. But the diagnostic process may be delayed if a physician does not recognize a skin rash caused by Lyme disease because it does not have the bull’s-eye appearance that is best known to physicians and the public.
