I just found out my 3.5 year old collie mix is positive for Lyme Disease. The vet put him on meds for the next three weeks and said he would be fine. i couldn’t really find much info on the disease. Any info would be great. Will he be cured? Will he be more prone to it in the future?I know I should have asked the vet this but it was a Sat. and had my other 2 animals in there too. It was a mad house there, sort of got puched out the door.

Lyme Disease is not fun. Though I’ve only seen one case working at the vet for 5 years. I’m surprised they didn’t give you the info about Lyme disease. Well, here is a link to Veterinary Partner. com – I send all of my clients to this website to get true information from real vets about all kinds of pet stuff. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1588This will hopefully help you understand about Lyme without me filling too much space here!Good Luck and keep your other pets on Frontline to prevent them from getting lyme and vaccinate for it too!

    Have a look here.

Me and my friends got out of the woods and saw a lot of little baby like ticks.I took a shower and rubbed alcohol on me any thing else

Baby ticks? Those may actually be deer ticks, which are very tiny adult ticks. They are dangerous because they are the ones that carry lyme disease. Use tweezers and pull them off one by one, crushing or burning each one after you do so. Cleanse the bite area with alcohol. Be on the lookout for any strange rashes, and if you get one (it won’t last long), take a photo of it and see a doctor about it right away.

A little vaseline will suffocate them.

Those are called ‘seed ticks’. There isn’t many things that will get them off if the shower and alcohol didn’t do it. The next thing to do is SCRATCH LIKE A DOG if you start itching. Next time you go out take a can of Deep Woods OFF insect spray and spray yourself good before you go into the woods.
